Job Title: Assistant to Careers Lead

Location: Wetheringsett Manor School, Stowmarket

Salary:     Additional allowance: up to £1000

Hours:     37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Assistant to Careers Lead to join our close-knit team at Wetheringsett Manor School located in Stowmarket.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to further their knowledge and become more involved in the development of Careers at Wetheringsett Manor.

This role will be additional to your current role, and no extra time will be given to allow you to complete these duties. Training courses will be provided to enhance your knowledge and ensure you are able to complete all aspects of the role.

Outline of activities that you will be responsible for:

Management

*        Planning the programme of activities in career guidance (with Careers Lead and Guidance professionals)

*        Monitoring delivery of career guidance across the eight Gatsby Benchmarks, using the compass review tool.

*        Uploading evidence of careers access to the compass review tool.

*        Supporting tutors, providing initial information and advice.

*        Monitoring access to, and take-up of, personal career guidance.

*        Ensuring that universities, colleges and apprenticeship providers have access to students to share information on opportunities.

*        Ensuring that all records of engagement are kept up to date and all activities are reported.

Co-Ordination

*        Managing the provision of careers and labour market information.

*        Managing the careers board and ensuring that it is kept up to date.

*        Managing the careers section of the school’s website, ensuring that information is accurate and up to date.

*        Liaising with the PSHE leader and other subject leaders to plan their contribution to career guidance.

*        Liaising with tutors, mentors, SENCo and teachers to identify students needing personal career guidance.

*        Co-ordinating, planning, monitoring and evaluating encounters with employers and work experience.

*        Communicating with students and their parents.

*        Organising outings to colleges, universities, career expos, work places, etc.

About the School

Wetheringsett Manor School is a new independent day SEMH School for up to 42 pupils aged 11-18. Our dedicated team work together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.

Wetheringsett Manor School has gone through significant refurbishment and is based in Suffolk, East Anglia and opened to pupils in November 2020. The Manor House is located in 17 acres of parkland with wooded boundaries and sits on the edge of the village of Wetheringsett. The accommodation also provides several other buildings including a converted stable block, a cottage and two industrial units.

We pride ourselves in steering pupils in the right direction, nurturing aspiration to progress them both academically and socially to encourage them to take pride in their achievements. Socially, we build confidence in our students, so they are able to have a greater understanding of the wider community in which they live.
