Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm
Contract: Fixed Term, Term Time only (03/03/2025 - 02/03/2026)

An excellent opportunity to join the wonderful team here at Tower School, supporting young people aged 11-18 with Autism and co-occurring, complex needs. This role is focused largely on teaching the core independent living skills required for our young people to safely and successfully access the world around them. The successful candidate will take a leading role in supporting offsite visits - both into the local community and beyond!
About the role
Delivery of a preparation for adulthood curriculum to develop the skills of our young people with Autism, enabling effective next steps into independent living, further education or employment. The Preparation for Adulthood (PFA) curriculum focuses on individualised EHCP targets to personalise the curriculum and delivery
Preparation, planning and risk assessing weekly trips and activities, in line with the pupils’ needs and ability (including travel training, independent living skills etc)
Teaching independent life skills and preparation for adulthood across KS4 and KS5
Teach in accordance with the ethos, organisation, and policies of the school as a fully committed member of the teaching team and as detailed in the specific duties and core standards below
To provide a high-quality education service for our pupils in accordance with Company policies, procedures and practices and the standards set by the Regulatory Body
Duties and responsibilities
* To plan, deliver and teach small groups of pupils in accordance with the school’s curriculum framework and related policies
* Planning and management of trip activities; creating a purposeful learning environment in and out of school.
* Teach engaging and motivating lessons informed by well-grounded expectations of learners and designed to raise levels of attainment and personal development
* Know how to make effective personalised provision/effectively provide differentiated tasks and activities for those they teach
* Use assessment as part of their teaching to identify learners’ needs, set realistic and challenging targets for improvement, and plan future teaching
* Prepare, plan and assess to ensure the safety of pupils, in line with risk assessments, while both on and off site

The Tower School is an independent special day school for pupils ages 11 – 18 years who have a primary diagnosis of Autism. Our dedicated team work together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who will often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.
This opportunity is based in Epping, Essex, CM16 4BA and is located on Epping High Road within easy access of J26 of the M25 and Junction 5 of the M11. Epping is a lovely market town in Essex and just 17 miles (30km) from the centre of London. It is surrounded by Epping Forest and the River Roding and River Lea valleys.
