Full Job Description
Everyone deserves an incredible future!
Continue your residential care career and become a Children’s Home Registered Manager with Acorn Education and Care and start continuing developing yours.
The opportunity
This is a role, based in Nottingham, with an exciting career and development plan, structured to ensure our staff are trained, supported, and continually developed. We want to give you the best possible toolkit, to deliver outstanding care and support to our Children and young people and help them achieve incredible outcomes.
There will be a thorough induction, fully expensed training courses, and pairing with RM colleagues, which together will help you expand your knowledge, get qualifications, and prepare to develop your career even further towards a Head of Care position. It is an incredible opportunity to further your career and see it flourish.
The Role
Acorn Education and Care work directly with vulnerable children with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) and complex needs. You will be patient and compassionate and, most of all, dependable – working hard to forge a much-needed relationship of trust with those in your care.
This will involve learning about the young person’s interests as well as their dislikes and their triggers, using that connection as a launchpad for a rewarding relationship. A passion for this kind of relationship-building is essential.
You will be responsible for the wellbeing of the children or young people in your care. Our Registered Managers help to ensure our care teams have the structure, resources and motivation needed to provide the individual, bespoke, support required by the children and young people in our care. You will deliver efficient management, delivery, and development of our residential SEMH service, ensuring the highest quality of care and support is consistently given. You will work to Ofsted Regulations, always striving for that Outstanding rating and ensuring safeguarding the children and young people in your care is your main priority at all times.
Working as part of an incredible committed team, you will co-operate and share knowledge and learning to the benefit of great care. Excellent communication skills are essential, both in terms of teamwork and – most importantly – as you will be in close contact with the children you care for.
Kindness is key. In this role, a warm smile can make a massive difference.
Who are we are looking for?
To become a Registered Manager with us, you will need to have achieved your Level 3 diploma Care Leadership and Management and be working towards, or willing to work towards, your level 5. You should also have at least 3 year’s hands on experience in a similar residential environment and have been a Deputy Manager or Registered Manager previously.
We know that the children and young people in our care can be challenging, and we are looking for Registered Managers who are patient and resilient, and able to give wrap around support to the team in order to deal with these challenges. You will learn from any mistakes as a team and provide constant learning journeys for your team and within the Nottingham cluster. You will take care of everyday needs, using a calm, reliable approach that builds trust and confidence.
You will be friendly, approachable and kind in your dealings with your team and children and young people. You will be committed to giving them the space and opportunity to thrive, playing your part in creating a nurturing environment in which they can fulfil their potential.
You will play a key role in the smooth-running of the site, and you will have a good grasp of safety and hygiene, and a conscientious dedication to the young people’s wellbeing. This is a role in which attention to detail really counts – and one that touches the real lives of people every day
