Job title:              Secondary Curriculum Leader

Location:             Bramfield House School, Halesworth, Suffolk

Salary:                 Up to £45,000 per annum

Hours:                 Full Time, Monday to Friday

Contract:            Permanent Term Time only

Are you ambitious for the success of all young people? Do you believe in teaching young people practical skills that will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives?

Bramfield House School are now looking for a dynamic and energetic Secondary Curriculum Leader. We need someone who is thirsty for success, has the highest of expectations for young people and deep understanding of the challenges that young people with additional needs face.

You may have experience of working in a specialist setting or equally, you may be from a mainstream secondary background and are looking for a different sort of challenge. One thing is for sure, you’ll be a very positive and future focused person who has a passion for equality and inclusion.

You will be someone delivering a vocational subject as a teacher and will have experience of setting up new qualifications and overseeing others. You will be forward looking and excited about how vocational learning can unlock the potential of young people.

We are looking for a really special person, committed and charismatic and able to foster strong trusting relationships with parents and children alike. You’ll be ruthlessly optimistic, committed with a genuine interest in people, staff and young people alike.

We need someone with ideas, who is open minded and creative with strong grounding in design and technology and catering.

About the School

Bramfield House School is no ordinary school; we are a very special organisation built on relationships and a common desire to help the individual.  We are an independent residential special educational needs school for boys aged 7 – 16 years who have social, emotional, mental health, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours. Our boys are the centre of our focus and we do anything to help them succeed. The school is oversubscribed and is currently undergoing an ambitious expansion plan.

The School has an established and innovative multidisciplinary team, extensive site and excellent facilities to support both learning and extra-curricular activities; we are in a great position to provide our young people with the best education and care possible. The school is set in beautiful grounds just miles from the Suffolk coast and this outdoors approach is key to our success.

The school has its own primary provision as well as a secondary element of the school. This post holder will oversee an extensive middle leadership team and work directly with the Headteacher to develop a new and exciting curriculum model.

We need highly-motivated and emotionally intelligent people who care about young people to help make a difference and to work with us to develop the school in its next exciting challenge.

About the Group

Acorn Education and Care provide education and care across 20 schools and 19 residential care homes nationally. Our vision is to build incredible futures by empowering vulnerable young people in the UK to be happy and to make their way in the world. Every day we improve the lives of thousands of young people, their families and communities through a relentless focus on caring and learning.

Who we are looking for?

No two days are the same at Bramfield House so we want people who can work at pace to turn ‘can’t do’ into ‘want to’ and are motivated by working in a fast pace environment.  You will be motivated by your belief that every child can achieve and reach their potential.  The ideal candidate will be a team player.

You will need to have a wide commitment to the holistic development of young people, willing to stay and work with young people beyond school hours and build relationships.

Whilst previous experience of working in a SEN environment would be desirable, excellent support skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.

If you are looking to join a dedicated team in a school that will welcome your ideas and aim to re-engage the young people we teach, we would like to hear from you.

Please see the Job Description and Person Specification for full details regarding this position.
