English Teacher

Options Trent Acres is a newly opened service and situated on a 12-acre site offering an integrated residential, education and care package for children between 8 and 19 years with a wide range of complex needs, Autism and associated learning disabilities The school is purpose built, modern and welcoming with a range of specialist learning areas including an indoor and outdoor riding school and outdoor gymnasium. Children also have the opportunity to work with our horses, donkeys, goats, alpaca and chickens. Learning outside of the classroom is a fundamental part of life at Trent Acres. We have a dedicated staff team who are focused on the delivery of high quality, child centred, bespoke packages of care and education.
Our service is in within easy reach of Stoke, Derby, Telford, Stafford, Lichfield, Burntwood, Rugeley, Burton-on-Trent, Tamworth, Uttoxeter and surrounding towns.
The school is currently under development to double pupil numbers and these vacancies relate to additional staffing requirements.
The role
As a dynamic and motivated English Teacher to our KS3 and KS4 students, you already have a passion for making a difference in the lives of children and young people. In this role, you will have every opportunity to live up to this ambition, responding to the needs of individuals with autism, learning difficulties and complex needs, helping them flourish and thrive.
You will plan and deliver engaging learning on a daily basis, developing exciting and innovative methods that stimulate interest and excitement in the classroom. Working as an English Teacher with us is not your average teaching role. At Options Autism, you are able to work creatively, making the most of all the extensive resources and expert support we have available.
Our class sizes are small, so you are able to create a nurturing learning environment designed around each individual’s needs, spending quality time with each pupil. You will observe, monitor and assess them, making sure their personal development and wellbeing are as important as the academic curriculum.
Who we are looking for
You will be a passionate English Teacher and a great communicator, as comfortable talking to children and young people with autism, learning difficulties and complex needs as you are with contributing to the schools vision and direction.
Our schools are unique environments, each one having its own special atmosphere and range of opportunities and resources. Our Teachers enjoy becoming part of their college ‘family’, exploring the potential of the building and environment and getting to know the brilliant young people in our care.
You will enjoy building these caring relationships as well as liaising with fellow professionals, whether they are colleagues in the same school or they work in the children’s previous educational establishments.
You will have excellent written English skills too, along with a passion for working in collaboration with other members of our multidisciplinary team, sharing information in both formal and informal situations.
