Role:                     School Facilities Operative           

Location:              Armley Grange School, Leeds,  LS12 3QH

Salary:                  £26,000.00 per annum PLUS a Welcome Bonus of £1500*

Hours:                  40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract:              Permanent, 52 weeks

About the role

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a School Facilities Operative to join our close-knit team at Armley Grange, part of Options Autism. 

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a School Facilities Operative who has a suitable qualification (or provide evidence of experience) of one of the following trades - carpentry, plumbing, decorating. Someone who is ICT literate for updating systems, able to priorities tasks anticipate and reduce risk where possible and an effective communicator. Ideally, someone who is IOSH trained, has a current first aid certificate and experience of COSHH, PAT testing, asbestos awareness and working at heights but this is not essential.

The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to solve problems independently, with a high degree of accuracy working in accordance with the health and safety policies and procedures of the group.

We are looking for someone that is able to deal with emergencies and problems in a positive and a systematic manner, work independently and as part of a team, has a willingness to undertake additional training and understand and is able to apply health & safety procedures relevant to the job.

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of current building regulations 
  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety policies & procedures 
  • Excellent time-management skills 
  • Able to work as part of a team or independently 
  • Able to respond to emergency situations in a calm and rationale manner 
  • Driving License

Armley Grange is a new specialist school for young people with complex communication needs, autism and associated learning and emotional needs. A specialist school equipped with the latest technology, sensory provision and specialist teaching spaces with the needs of the pupils in mind.

Armley Grange is a day school that caters for pupils from 5 years to 19 years old. A specialist curriculum will be provided blending specialist teaching around communication, sensory and behaviour approaches with aiming for each pupil to achieve their goals and aspirations and to reach their potential, equipping them to make their way in the world.

For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. As part of Outcomes First Group, we are leading our sector in setting and delivering new approaches that provide measurable outcomes for those in our care.
