Full Job Description

How would you like to get paid for five days, but only work four?

At Outcomes First Group, we believe in better work/life balance — and we’re putting wellbeing first.

That’s why we’re proud to be part of a 4-Day Working Week (4DWW) trial, where you can work one day less each week (or equivalent hours), while still receiving your full-time pay.

Many of our schools have already introduced the 4DWW — and others are preparing to roll it out as soon as they reach full staffing. So, whether it’s already in place or just around the corner, now’s the perfect time to join #teamOFG.

Join Our Team and Help Keep Our School Running Smoothly

At Waterloo Lodge School, part of the Options Autism family, we know that a great learning environment starts with a safe, clean, and well-maintained space. That’s where you come in.

We’re looking for a hands-on, dependable Facilities Assistant who takes real pride in their work — someone who can help keep our school running smoothly and looking its best every single day. Your work will help create the warm, welcoming environment our pupils and staff deserve — one where learning can thrive and everyone feels safe, supported, and proud of their surroundings.

About the Role

As our new Facilities Assistant, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the school, including:

  • Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs to keep our site in top condition
  • Supporting with groundskeeping and housekeeping, ensuring classrooms, corridors, and outdoor spaces are spotless
  • Maintaining safety and security, checking that all areas meet health and safety standards
  • Assisting with vehicle checks and basic maintenance across our small fleet
  • Opening and closing the site, ensuring the school is ready for a great day of learning

Every day will bring something different — and you’ll see the direct results of your hard work all around you.

Who We’re Looking For

You’re someone who’s practical, proactive, and always ready to lend a hand. You’ll fit right in if you’re:

  • Reliable and responsible – the team can always count on you
  • Safety-focused – you take pride in maintaining a secure, compliant environment
  • Hands-on and adaptable – no task is too big or too small
  • Positive and team-minded – you enjoy working with others and helping where it’s needed most

You’ll bring:

  • A full UK driving licence (desirable)
  • Experience in maintenance, caretaking, or a similar practical role
  • Good numeracy, literacy, and communication skills
  • A great attitude and commitment to doing your best every day

At Waterloo Lodge, you’ll be part of a friendly, inclusive community where teamwork and respect come first. You’ll be trusted to take ownership of your work, supported by a positive leadership team, and recognised for the crucial part you play in helping our pupils succeed.
