Job Title:            Subject Lead - Creative Arts

Location:           Underley Garden School, Kirkby Lonsdale LA6 2DZ

Salary:                £3,000.00 allowance

Contract:           Maternity Cover, 9 Months

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Subject Lead - Creative Arts to join our close-knit team at Underley Garden School, part of Options Autism.

Purpose of the Role

Underley Garden seeks an enthusiastic Subject Lead - Creative Arts who can inspire students with complex learning needs across all areas of the National Curriculum. Our pupils need engaging, creative, practical learning and so teaching staff need the ability to thrive in a flexible curriculum structure and fully utilise our facilities to offer personalised programmes.

Teaching staff at Underley Garden are encouraged to take a creative approach, seeking ways to positively engage with and motivate students through lessons that promote learning as well as develop independence and life skills.

Working as a Subject Lead - Creative Arts at Underley Garden, you will teach a range of subjects, planning and delivering the curriculum in accordance with the individual needs of our pupils to promote personal development, their well-being and above all, offering a range of opportunities to support their social and communication skills. You will set specific targets, work alongside other teachers to ensure curriculum coverage and create a stimulating learning environment. It is essential you are aware of the students’ progress and are able to address or flag potential concerns. Safeguarding the welfare of the pupils in our care will be your primary responsibility.

Underley Garden School is a large school with small class sizes, focusing on pupils, aged 5-19, who have a range of complex needs associated with autism and learning disabilities, including complex communication, sensory and behavioural needs associated with their disabilities.
