Job Title:      Experienced Behaviour Support Worker

Location:      Meadowcroft School, Wakefield, WF1 4AD

Salary:          £20,906.25 per annum

Hours:           37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract:      Permanent, Term Time only

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Experienced Behaviour Support Worker to join our close-knit team at Meadowcroft School located in Wakefield.

About the role

As an Experienced Behaviour Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in promoting positive behaviour and supporting students with behavioural challenges. Working closely with teachers, counsellors, and other professionals, you will develop and implement personalised behaviour support plans to meet the individual needs of our students. You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing one-on-one support, conducting assessments, and offering consultations to our staff.

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Assist in the implementation and management of a range of policies and practices including social inclusion, care and control and the schools generic behaviour system. 

  • Identify, assess and address poor behaviour – use a range of strategies and techniques to de-escalate negative behaviour.

  • Assist the Pastoral/Behaviour Manager in the organisation and day to day running of the schools out of class behaviour.

  • Return pupils to programme and aid them in settling back into the classroom. 

  • Work with pupils away from the removal area to motivate them and facilitate their return to programme.

  • Observation, discussion with and assessment of pupils to ascertain areas of strength and need. 

  • Support/mentor pupils - encourage the social, behavioural and emotional development of pupils through positive approaches that enhance appropriate relationships, develop self-esteem and promote life skills. 

  • To encourage and develop key and life skills, such as independence skills, on task behaviour and essential skills necessary for the work environment. 

  • Liaise with Key Stage / House Heads regarding consistent management of behaviour and implementation of the schools behaviour policies throughout the school. 

  • Ongoing discussions and liaison with teachers and support staff. 

  • Conduct regular patrols of classrooms and identify both positive and negative behaviours.
