The opportunity
This is a role with an exciting career and development plan, structured to ensure our staff are trained, supported, and continually developed. We want to give you the best possible toolkit, to deliver outstanding care and support to our Adults and help them achieve incredible outcomes.
The Role
Options Autism Work directly with autistic Adults who exhibit a wide range of abilities, from non-verbal to high-functioning and you will be patient and compassionate and, most of all, dependable – working hard to forge a much-needed relationship of trust with those in your care.
This will involve creatively learning about the adults interests as well as their dislikes and their triggers, using that connection as a launchpad for a rewarding relationship. A passion for this kind of relationship-building is essential.
You will be responsible for the wellbeing of the adults in your care. This will include chaperoning the adults to appointments and activities, completing relevant paperwork, undertaking household tasks, and where appropriate administering medication.
Working as part of an incredible team of committed care workers, you will co-operate and share knowledge and learning to the benefit of great care. Excellent communication skills are essential, both in terms of teamwork and – most importantly – as you will be in close contact with the adults you care for.
Kindness is key. In this role, a warm smile can make a massive difference.
Who are we are looking for?
You don’t need any experience to join our team. If you come from hospitality, the army, outdoor activity centres or an office-based job but are eager to help vulnerable adults to live happy, fulfilling lives, this is the role for you.
We know that the adults in our care can be challenging, and we are looking for Care Workers who are up for that challenge. You will be patient and resilient, and able to recognise the reward in transforming a life. You will take care of everyday needs, using a calm, reliable approach that builds trust and confidence.
You will be friendly, approachable, and kind in your dealings with the adults. You will be committed to giving them the space and opportunity to thrive, playing your part in creating a nurturing environment in which they can fulfil their potential.
You will play a key role in the smooth-running of the site, and you will have a good grasp of safety and hygiene, and a conscientious dedication to the adult’s wellbeing. This is a role in which attention to detail really counts – and one that touches the real lives of people every day
