Our residential specialisms
Autism
We tailor every learning experience to the individual, encouraging the development of communication, social and life skills as well as academic achievement. Our schools and colleges work hard to reconnect young people with education and encourage them to reach their individual goals.
Autism spectrum disorder – or ASD – affects the nervous system, growth and development, and it takes specialist expertise to help people with autism overcome their challenges. Individuals with ASD often have problems communicating and could have trouble developing social skills. It can be difficult for them to understand and control their own emotions or interpret other people’s.
Our specialist residential services for children, young people and adults with autism give them the space to be themselves while also helping them build the skills they need – whether in their personal, academic or social lives. We create caring, nurturing environments that are safe and secure – wonderful homes that are full of fun, and that are packed with engaging activities as well as space to be peaceful and quiet.
“Bring smiles to more faces, offer more people a helping hand”
SEMH
We encourage children, young people and adults with social, emotional and mental health needs to succeed in every way they can – personally, academically and socially. We nurture their development to build self-esteem and help them engage positively with the world.
Among the people we care for in our residential homes are those with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) – they may have a variety of special educational needs and a range of other difficulties. As with everyone we care for, our teams give them the expert help they need, creating nurturing environments full of activity and fun.
There may be occasions when they feel scared, anxious or misunderstood, but we help them develop self-confidence and encourage them to overcome the issues they face in a place where they always feel safe and secure.
