Job Title: Mechanics Instructor
Location: Crookhey Hall School, Lancaster
Salary: £8,535 per annum
Hours: 16 hours a week
Contract: Permanent; Term Time Only
Do you want to use your mechanical expertise to support Children? Do you enjoy transferring your knowledge? Do you want to have the autonomy to run a mechanics unit at Crookhey Hall School? We are looking for an innovative thinker who can support our 10 – 16 year old pupils with Social Emotional Mental Health challenges to learn more about car maintenance. We would like you to create new and encapsulating ways of running this vocational unit and teaching it to our pupils.
We are looking for a creative, engaging and open-minded Mechanics Instructor to join our family feel team. You must have a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring even the most challenging of minds and behaviours. We are looking for candidates, who want to get involved, have their ideas heard, aren’t afraid of getting dirty in workshops and who are resilient and caring. Previous experience with SEMH is desirable but isn’t essential. If you have no experience, please research SEMH and the challenges it may present.
The established staff team come from a variety of previous occupations and have individual skills, which can be utilised, within this school. So, if you have an interest and a good knowledge of cars, mechanics and maintenance, we would love to hear from you!

Crookhey Hall School is an independent special educational needs school for pupils aged 10 – 16 years who have social, emotional, mental health, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours, located in rural Lancaster. The school has a committed and innovative multidisciplinary team, extensive site and excellent facilities to support both learning and extra-curricular activities; we are in a great position to provide our pupils with the best education and care possible.
