Salary:      £30,000 - £40,000 per annum

Hours:      40 hours per week; plus on call duties

Acorn Park is a Special Educational Needs (SEN) School and Residential home within the Outcomes Autism and Outcomes First Group, the UK’s Largest, Independent Children’s services group.  The School specialises in communication and learning challenges associated with Autism.

The School and Homes are within a private, 30 acre Estate situated within Norfolk’s picturesque and tranquil countryside, close to the town of Banham.

The aim of the site is to provide enough support to unlock each child’s potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives. We provide the young people with as much freedom as possible in a safe and supervised environment. This is achievable due to the dedication and support from a range of employed professionals who are passionate, reliable and understanding.

This role is based in Norwich, commutable distance from Attelborough, Diss, Thetford and surrounds

The Role

Options Autism Work directly with autistic Children who exhibit a wide range of abilities, from non-verbal to high-functioning and You will be patient and compassionate and, most of all, dependable – working hard to forge a much-needed relationship of trust with those in your care.

This will involve creatively learning about the young person’s interests as well as their dislikes and their triggers, using that connection as a launchpad for a rewarding relationship. A passion for this kind of relationship-building is essential.

You will be responsible for the wellbeing of the children or young people in your care. Our Registered Managers help to ensure our care teams have the structure, resources and motivation needed to provide the individual, bespoke, support required by the children and young people in our care. You will deliver efficient management, delivery, and development of our residential service, ensuring the highest quality of care and support is consistently given. You will work to Ofsted Regulations, always striving for that Outstanding rating and ensuring safeguarding the children and young people in your care is always your main priority.

Working as part of an incredible committed team, you will co-operate and share knowledge and learning to the benefit of great care. Excellent communication skills are essential, both in terms of teamwork and – most importantly – as you will be in close contact with the children you care for.

Who are we are looking for?

To become a Registered Manager with us, you will need to have achieved your Level 3 diploma Care Leadership and Management and be working towards, or willing to work towards, your level 5. You should also have at least 3 year’s hands on experience in a similar residential environment and have been a Deputy Manager or Registered Manager previously.

We know that the children and young people in our care can be challenging, and we are looking for Registered Managers who are patient and resilient, and able to give wrap around support to the team in order to deal with these challenges. You will learn from any mistakes as a team and provide constant learning journeys for your team and within the Nottingham cluster. You will take care of everyday needs, using a calm, reliable approach that builds trust and confidence.

You will be friendly, approachable and kind in your dealings with your team and children and young people. You will be committed to giving them the space and opportunity to thrive, playing your part in creating a nurturing environment in which they can fulfil their potential.

You will play a key role in the smooth-running of the site, and you will have a good grasp of safety and hygiene, and a conscientious dedication to the young people’s wellbeing. This is a role in which attention to detail really counts – and one that touches the real lives of people every day
