This is a great opportunity to join Armley Grange, Part of Options Autism as an SEN Class Teacher. We are looking for a teacher who is nurturing and can teach students up to KS3 across a variety of subjects and has relevant experience of working with Autism or Social and Emotional Mental Health. You will be dynamic in your apporach and offer a therapeutic approach to learning and someone who would be willing to support potential GCSE qualifications.

Through your knowledge and passion, you will have a real impact on the lives of our young people. Taking responsibility for their learning, you will motivate them, inspire them and help them develop the skills they need for an incredible future.

We are looking for teachers who are happy to teach pupils aged 5 - 19 years old with Autism, Learning Difficulties, (Neurodiversity) Associated Behaviour and Needs and therefore will need to adapt a primary style approach to teaching.

About us

Armley Grange is a new specialist school for young people with complex communication needs, autism and associated learning and emotional needs. A specialist school equipped with the latest technology, sensory provision and specialist teaching spaces with the needs of the children in mind.

Armley Grange is a day school that caters for students from 5 years to 19 years old. A specialist curriculum will be provided blending specialist teaching around communication, sensory and behaviour approaches with aiming for each child to achieve their goals and aspirations and to reach their potential, equipping them to make their way in the world.

About the role

As a dynamic and motivated SEN Teacher, you already have a passion for making a difference in the lives of children and young people.

In this role, you will have every opportunity to live up to this ambition, responding to the needs of individuals with autism, learning difficulties and complex needs, helping them flourish and thrive. You will plan and deliver engaging learning on a daily basis, developing exciting and innovative methods that stimulate interest and excitement in the classroom. Working as a SEN Teacher with us is not your average teaching role.

At Options Autism, you are able to work creatively, making the most of all the extensive resources and expert support we have available.

Our class sizes are small, so you are able to create a nurturing learning environment designed around each individual’s needs, spending quality time with each pupil. You will observe, monitor and assess them, making sure their personal development and wellbeing are as important as the academic curriculum.

Who we are looking for

You will be a passionate SEN Class Teacher and a great communicator, as comfortable talking to children and young people with autism, learning difficulties and complex needs as you are with contributing to the schools vision and direction. Our schools are unique environments, each one having its own special atmosphere and range of opportunities and resources.

Our Teachers enjoy becoming part of their college ‘family’, exploring the potential of the building and environment and getting to know the brilliant young people in our care. You will enjoy building these caring relationships as well as liaising with fellow professionals, whether they are colleagues in the same school or they work in the children’s previous educational establishments. You will have excellent written English skills too, along with a passion for working in collaboration with other members of our multidisciplinary team, sharing information in both formal and informal situations.
