Job Title: Kitchen Assistant
Salary: £10,043.92 per annum (£11.26 per hour)
Location: Acorn Park School, Banham
Hours: 20 hours per week; Monday - Friday 10am - 2pm
Contact: Permanent; Term Time only
Must be UK based.
Job Purpose
The purpose is to assist the Catering Manager to maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, taking care of all aspects of hygiene as well as helping to prepare food Catering assistants are also responsible for carrying out basic food preparation tasks, such as washing and peeling food. They will also collect and dispose of waste.
- Assisting with basic food preparation activities, including washing up, peeling and cutting vegetables
- Cleaning and sanitising all tableware before and after service.
- Cleaning and washing kitchen appliances such as mixer, utensils and cutters
- Assist with unloading fresh supplies and organising the storerooms
- Food service to pupils and staff
- Ensure all health & safety and food hygiene regulations, including HACCP, are maintained within the kitchen environment
- Ensuring a good standard of cleanliness is maintained
- Report behaviour observations to the Catering Manager for them to maintain the school’s standard of discipline and behaviour
- To check, put away and store deliveries correctly
- Additional duties as directed by the Catering Manager

About the School
Acorn Park is a school for students aged 4-19 years, who all have a primary diagnosis of Autism. We run two curriculum pathways – Formal and Semi-formal. Our Complex needs pupils are on the Semi-Formal Pathway which is highly personalised from their EHCP. We have a mixture of Day and Residential pupils as we have 8 co-located pupil’s homes on our 30 Acre site in rural Norfolk. On site, we also have a large Forest School and Animal Care Farm along with play facilities, a sports hall and sensory rooms.
For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties.
