Job Title: Domestic Assistant
Location: Glebedale School, Stoke-on-Trent
Salary: £12.50 per hour
Hours: 9 hours per week; 3 days per week TBC
Contract: Fixed Term; Term Time only (3 months from start date)
As part of our continued growth, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Domestic Assistant to join our outstanding team at Glebedale School, Stoke-on-Trent.
About the role
To provide the Centre with a high level of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the building
Responsibilities
- To carry out all cleaning to the required standard of cleanliness as specified by the school, therefore meeting high standards of hygiene.
- To ensure that any tools or light equipment and machinery supplied for use are kept in good condition and stored securely in the designated areas.
- To keep storage areas clean and tidy and make sure all materials and equipment are stored in a safe manner.
- To ensure the correct use of materials and equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and recommendations.
- To use, where appropriate, powered equipment in undertaking cleaning duties.
- To carry out all work in line with Health and Safety regulations and risk assessments.
- To notify the Administrator/Headteacher of any mechanical failure of equipment or equipment unsafe for use. To inform the Site Manager of additional supplies or cleaning materials required.
- To report any graffiti or hazards to the Site Manager.
- To place all rubbish from bins in sacks and take to the designated area.
- To undertake all cleaning duties including washing, sweeping, vacuuming, emptying of litter bins, dusting and polishing of the designated areas including toilets, showers, fixtures and fittings and inner glass.
- To cover for absent colleagues and undertake any other reasonable cleaning or allied task as requested.
- To read, understand and adhere to the school’s rules and policies relating to equal opportunities, health and safety, child protection and dealing with pupils, staff and parents.

Glebedale School is a special needs school which provides provision for ages 7 years and upwards. We provide a nurturing and welcoming environment to SEMH pupils, and our curriculum has a keen focus on therapy, education and personal development. Our school aims to help pupils grow academically, socially and emotionally to enable them to become capable future citizens.
We provide education to 30 pupils from the Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and Cheshire areas. At our last Ofsted in December 2022, we were rated “Good”.
