Role: Work Placement Support Office
Location: Buzz Learning, Ashington, Northumberland
Salary: £17,937.50 per annum per annum (full time salary) (based on 35 hours per week over 41 weeks, pro rata for part-time.)
Contract: Temporary - Fixed Term until 21st July 2025
Essential: Full UK Driving Licence required
Buzz Learning Limited is an independent specialist school and college based in the Ashington, Northumberland. Established in 2004, we are firmly rooted in our local community and committed to providing education and further education to equip our learners with the skills, experience and qualifications they need to progress into successful adulthood. Our nurturing learning environments cater for students aged 11-16 years at our school and 16-24 years at our Post-16 Provision.

Buzz Learning’s main customers are school children aged 11 to 16, and young people aged 16 to 24, all of whom have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Buzz works to equip them with the skills, experience and qualifications that they need to progress successfully into adult life.
The Role:
The focus of this post is to supervise and support learners undertaking work experience placements with employers.
Duties include:
- effective supervision of learners on work placement, utilising techniques such as systematic instruction
- coaching learners to improve their employability skills and enhance their job prospects
- coaching learners to develop their independent travel skills
- development and maintenance of excellent working relationships with employers and other stakeholders
- completion of all relevant documentation in a timely manner and to required standards
- collaborative working with colleagues and employers, including to agree and review learners’ targets
- reporting on learners’ progress to colleague and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
The post holder will be required to:
- Contribute to Buzz’s overall ethos, values and behaviours.
- Contribute to Buzz’s overall work and aims.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, Ofsted inspectors, and other professionals.
- Promote and maintain effective communications within Buzz and with relevant outside agencies and individuals where appropriate.
- Be a productive team member, helping colleagues at all times and standing in for other staff when required.
- Receive and understand targets that must be met in order to achieve the financial and quality requirements of Buzz.
- Carry out all Company instructions, follow work instructions regarding all areas of work and adhere to all Company procedures.
- Comply with all regulations regarding premises and equipment and adhere to the presentation and general housekeeping requirements of training areas, ensuring a friendly, business-like environment.
- Maintain effective administration records that meet the requirements of Buzz, funders, awarding bodies and others.
- Assist in actively promoting a positive image of Buzz.
- Complete any other duties that may reasonably be required for Buzz’s smooth and effective development and operation.
