Job Title: Facilities Manager

Location: Oak Tree School, Truro, TR4 9NH

Salary:     £37,500 per annum depending on experience (not pro rata)

Hours:     42.5 Hours per week; Monday to Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm

Contract: Permanent, 52 weeks

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Facilities Manager to join our close-knit team at Oak Tree School located in Truro.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance, security, and day-to-day operations of our buildings and grounds. The Facilities Manager will ensure that our work environment is safe, functional, and efficient, supporting both our staff and pupils.

 Key Responsibilities 

  • To manage the facilities team and provide day to day supervision for planned and responsible repair programmes, domestic tasks and catering duties Service dependent)
  • To ensure that the facilities provided are of a high standard at all times and that the facilities team exercise their full responsibilities, duties and tasks
  • Responsible for the coordination of the relevant areas of the capital and operational expenditure
  • To monitor and audit schedules of work and the quality of completed projects
  • Liaise with external providers to ensure cost effective contracts are in place and reviewed regularly
  • To prioritise and organise planned and responsive workload for all areas of responsibility
  • To manage all on call/out of hours response rotas to ensure satisfactory outcomes and be part of the on call team
  • To obtain maximum economy and efficiency in all works
  • To ensure risk assessments and procedures are in place and in accordance with Company standards
  • To advise and support the team with issues relating to Health and Safety, food hygiene, fire management and building-related legislative technical matters
  • To develop maintenance programmes to cover responsive, cyclical and planned maintenance and repair works

Requirement:

  • Full UK Driving Licence

Oak Tree School in Truro has recently expanded and developed two new buildings and undergone a successful inspection from Ofsted allowing us to offer a wider age range of pupils from 5 – 18 years the opportunity to have the best education possible. Oak Tree School is a specialist SEMH provision positioned near the city of Truro in Cornwall. The school provides full-time specialist co-education for up to 135 pupils and young people aged 5 to 18 who experience social, emotional, mental health, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours. These pupils and young people often cannot cope, function or achieve within a mainstream environment. The aim is to provide a structured, nurturing approach, with pupils accessing a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum to meet their significant needs.

This opportunity is in Truro which is within commutable distance of Redruth, St Austell and surrounding areas.
