Job Title: SEN Teacher
Location: Acorn Park School, Norwich, NR16 2HU
Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm
Contract: Permanent, Term Time only
Start: July 2025

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a SEN Teacher to join our close-knit team at Acorn Park School located in Norwich.
About the role
To develop the academic capabilities, social and communication skills and focussing on successful and purposeful learning. To lead the class team by example and direction, ensuring the highest quality of education and care for every pupil..
Main Responsibilities:
- To develop and implement schemes of work and lesson plans in line with the requirements of the Formal or Semi-Formal Curriculum Pathway.
- To ensure they have adequate planning to teach high quality lessons
- To organise the learning environment and develop resources in order to maximise the learning process.
- To establish positive relationships with pupils and to develop close, professional relationships with parents/carers.
- To use assessment tools effectively and according to school deadlines, to record pupil progress.
- To foster enthusiasm for learning.
- To ensure that pupils are challenged in their learning and aim to achieve their full potential.
- To share responsibility for the well being, safety and behaviour management of pupils in line with the school’s policies.
- To demonstrate excellent practice and work collaboratively and supportively with colleagues.
- To work in partnership with all stakeholders.
- To meet the EHCP needs of the pupils.
- To develop knowledge of teaching pupils with ASD in line with development and best practice and to share this with colleagues.
- To keep accurate records in line with school policies
- To develop and maintain good communication with all stakeholders.
- To Maintain a healthy work/life balance.
Qualifications Required
- GCSE C/4 English and Maths.
- UK QTS/ QTLS or working towards.

Acorn Park is a school for 160 pupils, who all have a primary diagnosis of Autism. We run two curriculum pathways – Formal and Semi-formal. Our Complex needs pupils are on the Semi-Formal Pathway which is highly personalised from their EHCP. We have a mixture of Day and Residential pupils as we have 8 co-located pupil’s homes on our 30 Acre site in rural Norfolk. On site, we also have a large Forest School and Animal Care Farm along with play facilities, a sports hall and sensory rooms.
For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. We are a leading provider of education for neurodivergent young people and young adults.
