Job Title:  Behaviour Mentor 

Location:  The Grange Therapeutic School, Knossington, Oakham LE15 8LY

Salary:      £25,000.00 per annum

Hours:      37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Behaviour Mentor to join our close-knit team at The Grange Therapeutic School, part of Acorn Education.

Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join our school team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and monitoring student behaviour, helping to create a positive and productive learning environment for all.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support and manage the smooth return of students to the classroom following behaviour interventions.
  • Implement agreed strategies to improve and manage student behaviour effectively across the school.
  • Monitor and analyse student behaviour using the online behaviour management system to identify trends and support needs.
  • Provide on-call support to teaching staff when required to address behaviour issues promptly.
  • Liaise closely with teaching staff to support learning and maintain behaviour standards.
  • Encourage and support students to follow school rules and uphold behaviour expectations consistently.
  • Assist in organising and promoting the school’s rewards system and encouraging student responsibility.
  • Collaborate with the Wellbeing Manager for Inclusion to develop and implement behaviour improvement strategies.
  • Coach students in managing their emotions and developing self-regulation and self-management skills.

Additional Duties May Include:

  • Working with parents to support student behaviour and progress.
  • Assisting with the induction of new students to ensure a positive start.
  • Encouraging students to reflect on their behaviour and supporting them to make positive changes.
  • Being present in corridors to manage and respond to students who leave classrooms without permission.
  • Participating in continuous professional development and research to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Attending meetings, assemblies, and parent events to contribute insights and support.
  • Working one-to-one with students to address individual behaviour needs.
  • Supporting staff with behaviour management strategies and interventions.
  • Contributing actively to pastoral team meetings and school events.
  • Completing other reasonable tasks as requested by the Headteacher or line manager.
