Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Oakfield House School, Salwick PR4 0YH
Salary: £20,906.25 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8.30am - 4.00pm
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only
Start: November 2025

About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to deliver creative, personalised support that helps pupils reach their full potential. You’ll provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with a range of complex needs, assist with classroom preparation, help deliver lessons, and contribute to a safe, respectful, and empowering school culture.
This role is both challenging and incredibly rewarding — you will be a vital part of a team dedicated to safeguarding, respecting, and amplifying the voices of our pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Work closely with teachers to deliver personalised learning support tailored to each pupil’s needs
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with complex social, emotional, and communication needs
- Assist with preparing classroom materials and supporting lesson delivery
- Foster a safe, inclusive environment that promotes respect, positive behaviour, and pupil independence
- Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies under teacher guidance
- Monitor and report on pupil progress, contributing to reviews and planning
- Promote safeguarding and ensure the welfare and safety of all pupils
- Collaborate with therapists, external agencies, and the wider school team to support pupil development
- Engage in ongoing training to develop your skills and knowledge
Who We're Looking For
- Calm, patient, and resilient individuals with a genuine passion for supporting young people
- Educated to GCSE grade C/4 or above in Maths and English
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Team players who thrive in a collaborative, supportive environment
- Motivated to help pupils develop academically, socially, and personally
- Previous experience in SEN or ASC settings is desirable but not essential
- Ideal also for those with customer-facing experience in retail, hospitality, or leisure, looking for a meaningful career change

Oakfield House School is a specialist Primary School for autistic pupils and those associated with Autism/Learning or Complex Communication and Behaviour needs. The school has a strong and committed leadership team. Our school is a country house built in the 1880's, set in eight acres of beautiful parkland.
We cater for 45 boys and girls aged between 4 – 12 years old.
The Site is situated in Salwick near Preston and are within commutable distance from Preston, Blackpool, Chorley, Leyland and surrounding areas.
For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. We are a leading provider of education for neurodivergent young people and young adults. As part of Outcomes First Group, we are leading our sector in setting and delivering new approaches that provide measurable outcomes for those in our care.

*You’ll work 80% of your contractual hours for 100% of your pay, giving you more time to do the things that make you happy. 4DWW is subject to successful completion of probation and is not a contractual benefit
