Role:        Teaching Assistant/School Support Worker
Location: Reddish Hall School, Stockport, SK5 6UY
Salary:     £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours:     37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8:00am – 4:00pm
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start:        February 2026

We are a nurturing, specialist school supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs. We are looking for a Teaching Assistant/School Support Worker who wants to make a genuine difference every single day—someone who will bring positivity, patience, and resilience to our vibrant school community.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant / School Support Worker, you will be at the heart of pupil support, helping learners feel safe, confident, and ready to engage with their education. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff, you’ll provide personalised support both in and out of the classroom.

From encouraging positive behaviour to helping pupils build independence, confidence, and social skills, you’ll play a vital role in each young person’s journey. This is a highly rewarding position where your care, creativity, and commitment will make a genuine and lasting difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils’ learning and engagement in line with their individual needs
  • Encourage and motivate pupils to achieve both personal and academic goals
  • Promote positive behaviour and support the development of social and emotional skills
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment

Who We’re Looking For

Essential

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs
  • A calm, compassionate, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

Desirable

  • Experience working in a school or SEN setting
  • An understanding of autism, SEMH, or trauma-informed practice
  • A willingness to learn, develop, and grow professionally
