At Outcomes First Group, we believe every child can thrive when given the right environment for success. Our vision is to empower every child with a world-class education that nurtures potential and inspires lifelong learning. Our mission is to unlock that potential through personalised support and opportunity. Our promise is simple: we listen, we work together, and we are accountable to one another to make the remarkable happen.
WPA provides expert Education Welfare and attendance solutions to schools, academies, and local authorities across the UK. Our teams work directly with families and educational settings to ensure children access their education safely, consistently, and with the support they need to succeed.
About the Role
WPA is seeking dedicated Education Welfare Officers (EWOs) to support schools and families across London and the South East. This vital role focuses on improving school attendance, safeguarding children, and helping families overcome barriers to education.
As an EWO, you will work in partnership with schools, parents, pupils and external agencies to identify attendance concerns, implement targeted interventions, and support families in re-establishing positive routines. This is an excellent development opportunity for Teaching Assistants, Pastoral Staff, Behaviour Mentors or Family Support Workers looking to progress into attendance, safeguarding or social care pathways.
Key Responsibilities:
Attendance & Casework
- Manage attendance cases, focusing on persistent absence and early intervention
- Conduct home visits to understand family circumstances
- Develop personalised support and intervention plans
- Advise schools on attendance processes, statutory responsibilities and best practice
Safeguarding & Welfare
- Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns in line with WPA, Momenta, OFG and local procedures
- Contribute to risk assessments and multi-agency meetings
- Maintain accurate, compliant case records and reports
School Partnership & Reporting
- Build strong relationships with Headteachers, SENCOs and attendance leads
- Deliver attendance reviews, action plans and data analysis to SLT
- Produce professional reports for schools, families and Local Authorities
You will represent WPA and Momenta professionally across partner schools, manage your caseload independently, and work flexibly across a range of communities.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
Essential:
- Experience supporting children, young people or families
- Strong communication and report-writing skills
- Confident IT user (Word, Excel, case systems)
- Understanding of safeguarding and attendance barriers
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car
Desirable:
- Experience in attendance, pastoral, behaviour or family support roles
- Knowledge of attendance legislation and statutory guidance
- Multi-agency, home visiting or mediation experience
