Finance Assistant
Bolton Office | Hybrid Working
Temporary | 6 Months | 37.5 hours per week (Mon–Fri)
Salary: £26,000 – £28,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

The Role
We are looking for a Finance Assistant to join our team at our Bolton Head Office on a 6-month temporary contract.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone detail-driven, organised and confident working with high volumes of financial data. You will play a key role in supporting accurate revenue recording and ensuring smooth financial operations across allocated schools within the division.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assisting with the accurate recording of revenue for allocated schools
- Supporting the raising and posting of invoices to the ledger
- Assisting with debt collection activities
- Managing and responding to finance email queries
- Processing refunds accurately and efficiently
- Completing monthly cash and bank reconciliations
- Preparing and processing journals
- Supporting month-end processes to ensure accounts are completed in a timely manner
- Assisting in the preparation of audit packs prior to submission to auditors
- Working closely with the Shared Service Centre to resolve queries
- Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc projects
What We’re Looking For
- Experience of query management and resolution
- Highly numerate with strong attention to detail when handling financial data
- Good working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Mathematics and English
- Professional demeanour with a positive, flexible attitude
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks
- Proactive approach with good initiative
- Previous finance experience is desirable but not essential.
