Location:  Acorn Park School, Banham, Norwich, NR16 2HU
Hours:       37.5 hours per week | Monday–Friday | 8.30am - 4.30pm
Salary:       Up to £42,500 per annum
(not pro rata, based on experience)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start:         July 2026

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and adaptable PE Teacher / Instructor to lead and develop PE within our autism specialist school.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape an inclusive and engaging PE curriculum that supports pupils’ physical development, communication, emotional regulation, confidence, and wellbeing.

You will teach across all Key Stages, delivering creative and structured PE lessons tailored to pupils with autism and associated SEND needs across both formal and semi-formal pathways.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and develop an inclusive PE curriculum from EYFS–Year 11
  • Deliver engaging, differentiated PE lessons for pupils with a range of needs and abilities
  • Use autism-informed approaches including visuals, routines, sensory strategies, and structured teaching
  • Promote physical activity, wellbeing, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles
  • Lead enrichment opportunities including sports days, activity weeks, and extracurricular activities
  • Work collaboratively to support positive behaviour, safeguarding, and pupil progress

About You

Essential

  • QTS/QTLS or equivalent qualification
  • Experience working with pupils with autism and/or SEND
  • Strong understanding of sensory and communication needs
  • Ability to adapt PE activities to meet a wide range of needs
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing

Desirable

  • Experience in a specialist autism/SEND setting
  • PE leadership experience
  • Knowledge of autism approaches such as TEACCH, PECS, or AAC
  • Experience delivering inclusive sport or enrichment activities
