Job Title: Interventions and Cover Lead Instructor
Location: Waterloo Lodge School, Chorley, Lancashire PR6 7AX
Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday–Friday | 8.30am - 4.30pm
Salary: £26,250 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: September 2026

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable Interventions and Cover Lead Instructor to join our dedicated team and play a vital role in ensuring high-quality learning across the school.
This is a key position within our school, providing essential cover for teachers and teaching assistants during absences, PPA time, and other operational needs. You will deliver pre-planned lessons, support learning across classrooms, and work closely with staff to maintain a positive, safe, and inspiring environment for all pupils.
When cover is not required, you will collaborate with the SENCo to deliver targeted interventions that help pupils make meaningful progress. This is a role for someone who thrives on variety, teamwork, and making a real difference every day.
What you will be doing
- Deliver pre-planned lessons to cover teacher absence, ensuring high-quality learning continues.
- Provide in-class support to cover teaching assistant absence across the school.
- Manage pupil behaviour to maintain a safe, positive, and inspiring learning environment.
- Mark completed work and upload evidence to Evidence for Learning (EfL).
- Liaise with teaching staff regarding assessment data and evidence requirements.
- Deliver targeted interventions for individuals or groups as directed by the SENCo.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and TAs to support consistent, high-quality provision.
- Contribute to a positive school community, including supporting extracurricular activities and occasional home visits.
What you will bring
We’re looking for someone who has:
- GCSE C or equivalent required
- A strong understanding of high-quality teaching and learning.
- Knowledge of SEND practice and the implications for classroom provision.
- The ability to challenge and inspire pupils to reach their full potential.

- Confidence, flexibility, and a proactive approach to supporting learning across multiple pathways.
