Job Title:  1-1 Teaching Assistant 
Location:  Bluebank School, Whittington Moor, Derbyshire, S41 8LQ
Hours:       37.5 hours per week | Monday–Friday | 8.30am - 4.00pm
Salary:      £22,160.20 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract:  Permanent | Term Time Only
Start:         September 2026

About the Role

At Bluebank School, we're looking for a compassionate, patient and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide personalised support to a pupil with additional needs. This is a unique opportunity to build a meaningful relationship, helping one young person develop the confidence, independence and skills they need to thrive both in school and beyond.

You'll work alongside an experienced and supportive team, creating a safe, nurturing environment where every achievement—big or small—is celebrated.

What you will be doing

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support, enabling a pupil with SEND and complex needs to access learning and achieve their individual goals.
  • Adapt learning activities, resources and routines to meet the pupil's educational, emotional and social needs.
  • Build a positive, trusting relationship that promotes confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing.
  • Encourage communication, independence, social skills and positive engagement throughout the school day.
  • Support learning both in the classroom and during outdoor learning, enrichment activities and educational visits.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide consistent, personalised support.
  • Monitor progress, celebrate achievements and contribute to individual support plans and reviews.
  • Promote positive behaviour and ensure the pupil's safety, wellbeing and safeguarding remain at the heart of everything you do.

    • Resilient, calm and able to build positive, trusting relationships through consistency and encouragement.
    • A confident communicator who enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals.
    • Flexible, proactive and adaptable, with a positive attitude towards supporting learning in a variety of settings.
    • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
    • Holds a Full UK Driving Licence.
