Job Title: Domestic Assistant - Part time
Location: Underley Garden School, Kirkby Lonsdale LA6 2DZ
Hours: 15 hours per week | Monday to Friday | Shifts 6am - 9am or 3pm - 6pm flexibility available.
Salary: £8,864.25 per annum (not pro rata) + Travel allowance
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: September 2026

At Underley Garden School, we're looking for a friendly and reliable Domestic Assistant to help create a clean, safe and welcoming environment where children and young people with special educational needs can flourish.
This is more than a cleaning role. Every classroom, residential area and shared space you care for helps provide the comfort, safety and positive atmosphere our pupils need to learn, grow and achieve their potential.
With flexible shift options of 6:00am–9:00am or 3:00pm–6:00pm, plus term-time working, this is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a great work-life balance while making a genuine difference every day.
What you will be doing
- Keep classrooms, residential homes, offices and communal areas clean, safe and welcoming.
- Vacuum, mop, sweep, dust and polish to maintain high standards throughout the school.
- Clean toilets, bathrooms, shower rooms and changing facilities.
- Replenish consumables such as toilet rolls, soap and paper towels.
- Use cleaning equipment and products safely, following training and COSHH guidance.
- Report any maintenance issues or health and safety concerns promptly.
- Help maintain cleaning supplies and ensure equipment is stored safely.
- Work as part of a supportive team to provide an outstanding environment for our pupils and colleagues.

Underley Garden School is a large school with small class sizes, focusing on pupils, aged 5-19, who have a range of complex needs associated with autism and learning disabilities, including complex communication, sensory and behavioural needs associated with their disabilities.
