About the Role
Do you believe that great teaching is about more than delivering lessons?
At Penny Tree School, we're looking for an enthusiastic and creative SEN Humanities Instructor to help young people discover the world around them through History, Geography and the wider Humanities.
This is far more than an instructor role. Every day, you'll help pupils develop confidence, resilience and a genuine love of learning. Through engaging, personalised lessons, you'll encourage curiosity, spark meaningful discussions and help pupils overcome barriers that may have prevented them from reaching their potential.
Working in small classes alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team, you'll have the time, flexibility and resources to build positive relationships and tailor learning to every individual. Every achievement is celebrated, every breakthrough matters, and every day offers the opportunity to make a lasting difference.
Whether your experience comes from education, alternative provision, youth work or another setting supporting young people, if you're passionate about inspiring others, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deliver engaging and creative Humanities lessons that bring History, Geography and the wider world to life.
- Adapt learning to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEND, ensuring every learner can succeed.
- Inspire curiosity, critical thinking and confidence through meaningful, interactive learning experiences.
- Support pupils' social, emotional and personal development using nurturing, relationship-based approaches.
- Monitor progress and contribute to personalised learning plans, behaviour strategies and individual education programmes.
- Create stimulating learning environments where pupils feel safe, motivated and ready to learn.
- Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants, teachers, therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Promote positive behaviour and help pupils develop the confidence, resilience and independence they need to thrive.
- Safeguard and promote the wellbeing of every pupil, both in school and during educational activities.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who:
- Is passionate about Humanities and inspiring young people to achieve more than they thought possible.
- Has experience delivering learning or supporting young people within education, alternative provision, youth work, training or a similar setting.
- Can build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced barriers to learning.
- Is creative, adaptable and able to tailor learning to meet a wide range of individual needs.
- Has a calm, patient and resilient approach, using positive behaviour strategies to support success.
- Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.
- Is committed to inclusion, safeguarding and helping every young person build a brighter future.
