Job Title:  SENCO (part SLT)
Location:  Red Kite School, Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, HP27 0JW
Hours:      40 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8am - 4pm
Salary:      Up to £50,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Contract:  Permanent | Term Time Only
Start:        November 2026

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional SENCO to join our dedicated team and play a pivotal role in ensuring every pupil receives the support, opportunities and encouragement they need to thrive. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop SEND provision across the school, champion inclusive practice and make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and young people.

As SENCO, you will be at the heart of our school community, working collaboratively with pupils, families, colleagues and external professionals to create a nurturing, ambitious and inclusive environment where every learner can achieve their full potential. You'll combine strategic leadership with a hands-on approach, ensuring high-quality support and positive outcomes for pupils with additional needs.

This role is ideal for an experienced SEND practitioner who is passionate about inclusion, driven by pupil success and committed to delivering outstanding educational experiences.

Your duties will include:

  • Lead and develop the school's SEND provision, ensuring outstanding support for pupils with EHCPs and additional needs.
  • Monitor progress, analyse data and coordinate effective interventions that improve pupil outcomes.
  • Chair Annual Reviews and SEND meetings, ensuring statutory compliance and high-quality documentation.
  • Build strong relationships with families, Local Authorities and external professionals to secure the best support for pupils.
  • Support, coach and train staff to deliver inclusive, high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Maintain accurate SEND records and oversee assessment and review processes.
  • Champion inclusion, safeguarding and wellbeing while contributing to whole-school improvement initiatives.

What will you be doing

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree .
  • Has the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or is willing to work towards it.
  • Has experience leading and managing SEND provision within a school setting.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of SEND legislation, statutory processes and inclusive educational practice.
  • Is confident using assessment data and pupil outcomes to inform provision and drive improvement.
  • Builds positive and effective relationships with pupils, families, colleagues and external professionals.
  • Is proactive, resilient and committed to continuous professional development.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence.

Red Kite School is an independent special school for up to 60 young people aged 11–18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
