Job Title:  Family Liaison Officer (FLO)
Location:   Miller House School, Stoneygate, Leicester LE2 2NB
Hours:  37.5 per week | Monday to Friday 
Salary:  Up to £30,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Contract:  Permanent | Term Time Only
Start:  November 2026

We’re looking for a compassionate, proactive and resilient Family Liaison Officer to become a trusted link between our school, pupils and their families. You’ll work with families who may be experiencing challenges, helping them access the right support, strengthen their relationship with school and overcome barriers that could be affecting their child’s education, attendance or wellbeing.

This is a varied and influential role combining family support, safeguarding, attendance, multi agency working and direct pupil support. You’ll also act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, making this an excellent opportunity for someone with strong safeguarding knowledge who wants to have a wider impact across a specialist school community.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Act as a trusted point of contact for families, building positive relationships and identifying where additional support may be needed
• Support vulnerable families by signposting and referring to appropriate services and helping coordinate packages of support
• Work closely with external agencies including Social Care, Early Intervention Teams, Housing, NSPCC, YOS and Police
• Attend multi agency meetings and carry out home visits where required
• Build relationships with families before pupils join Miller House and encourage continued family involvement in learning and development
• Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, responding to concerns, maintaining accurate records and supporting a strong safeguarding culture
• Work with the Pastoral Lead and Senior Leaders to address attendance, engagement and barriers to achievement
• Provide direct support to pupils, contributing to individual plans and helping develop confidence, independence, positive behaviour and engagement with learning

Who we're looking for

We’re looking for someone who can combine empathy with professionalism and build relationships with families without losing sight of safeguarding, boundaries and positive outcomes for pupils.

You’ll be someone who:

• Can build constructive and trusting relationships with pupils, parents and carers
• Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and the confidence to undertake Deputy DSL responsibilities
• Is comfortable working with families who may be experiencing challenging or complex circumstances
• Can communicate confidently and professionally with external agencies and other professionals
• Is organised and able to maintain accurate, confidential records and case information
• Can approach sensitive conversations with compassion, discretion and appropriate professional boundaries
• Understands the importance of attendance and family engagement in supporting educational outcomes
• Is resilient, proactive and able to respond calmly when situations are challenging
• Enjoys working collaboratively with teaching, pastoral and senior colleagues
• Is committed to inclusion and maintaining high expectations for every pupil
• Full UK Driving Licence required 

About Us

Miller House School is a brand-new school located in Stoneygate, Leicester. The school opened in September 2025, has a capacity of 80 pupils, and offers a co-educational provision for students with complex needs, including SEMH.
