Job Title: Vehicle Technician Trainer
Location: Wetheringsett Manor, Suffolk, IP14 5QX
Hours:     37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8.15am - 3.45pm
Salary:     Up to £42,000 per annum (depending on experience/qualifications, not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start:       November 2026

We’re looking for a Vehicle Technician Trainer to bring practical automotive learning to life at Wetheringsett Manor. You’ll help young people develop hands on skills, confidence and independence through engaging vehicle maintenance and mechanics based learning.

You don’t necessarily need to come from a traditional teaching background. Industry experience is warmly welcomed and QTS is desirable rather than essential. What matters is your practical knowledge, your ability to engage young people and your enthusiasm for helping them discover skills they can use in the future.

From the Workshop to the Classroom

This is about taking real world automotive knowledge and turning it into learning that pupils can understand, enjoy and take pride in.

You’ll:

• Plan and deliver engaging vehicle maintenance and mechanics based learning
• Teach practical skills through hands on activities and real world examples
• Take responsibility for the quality and development of the vehicle technician provision
• Adapt activities around different abilities, interests and individual learning needs
• Create a positive environment where pupils can build confidence, independence and practical skills
• Use assessment to recognise progress, address gaps and plan appropriate next steps
• Embed literacy, numeracy and digital skills naturally within practical learning
• Contribute to the wider curriculum and support other learning where required

What You'll Bring

You could already be working as a Vehicle Technician, Mechanic or within another relevant automotive role and be ready for a career where you can pass your experience on to the next generation.

We’re looking for someone with:

• Relevant practical automotive or vehicle technician knowledge and experience
• A passion for hands on learning and sharing practical skills
• The patience and adaptability to work with young people with different needs and abilities
• The confidence to create structured and engaging learning experiences
• A positive approach to building relationships and encouraging young people
• A genuine belief that every pupil can develop skills and achieve meaningful progress
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
• A UK driving licence

UK QTS is desirable but not essential, and relevant industry experience is warmly welcomed.
