Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: The Wenlock School, Dudley, West Midlands, DY1 3SB
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | Monday 8:15am - 4:30pm, Tuesday - Friday 8:15am - 3:45pm
Salary: £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: October 2026

About the Role

We're looking for a passionate and caring Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team, supporting students with additional needs to overcome challenges, build confidence, and thrive in education.
This is far more than a classroom support role. You'll become a trusted adult and positive role model, helping students develop academically, socially, and emotionally. Every day brings the chance to celebrate progress, whether that's a breakthrough in learning, increased confidence, improved communication, or a student's belief in their own abilities.
Working alongside teachers, families, therapists, and other specialist professionals, you'll play a key role in creating a nurturing environment where students feel safe, supported, and empowered to succeed.

What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting students with their learning, emotional wellbeing, communication, and personal development.
- Building positive relationships that help students feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.
- Working closely with teachers to deliver engaging learning experiences and promote student progress.
- Delivering targeted interventions that develop confidence, independence, and life skills.
- Collaborating with families and external professionals to provide holistic support for students.
- Promoting a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every student can thrive.
What We’re Looking For
- GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent.
- Experience supporting students in a SEND or specialist education setting.
- Patient, resilient, empathetic, and adaptable to individual student needs.
- Confident supporting students with communication, learning, social, emotional, or behavioural needs.
- Able to remain calm, consistent, and positive when managing challenging situations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.
- Organised, reliable, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for students.
- Passionate about making a meaningful difference and committed to ongoing professional development.
