Job title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Brookthorpe Hall School, Gloucester
Hours: 40 hours per week; Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm
Salary: £25,847.50 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Term Time only
As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Cover Supervisor to join our close-knit team at Brookthorpe Hall School, part of Options Autism.
About the Role
No two days are the same at Brookthorpe Hall so we want staff who can work at pace to turn ‘can’t do’ into ‘want to’ and are motivated by working with pupils with special needs. You will be motivated by your belief that every pupil can achieve and reach their potential. The ideal candidate will be resilient, have a calm and engaging demeanour and enjoy working with pupils.
- To cover some timetabled classes throughout the week in addition to covering general absence etc.
- Deliver high quality lessons and occasionally deal with challenging behaviour in the classroom.
- Making sure all students are focused and on track to meeting the lesson objectives.
- Prepare the classroom for lessons.
- Help any students who are struggling with the work set for their cover lessons.
- Undertake such duties as are delegated by SLT.
Responsibilities
- To carry out duties of a school teacher as set out in the current School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.
- To carry out the duties of a general class teacher as detailed in the school’s class teacher job description.
- To be responsible for teaching in an autistic setting.
- To provide additional capacity to our Teaching Assistant team when required.
Qualifications:
- NVQ level 2 or equivalent qualification or comparable level of experience
- Good standard of numeracy & literacy skills
- Willingness to undertake further relevant training

About the School
Brookthorpe Hall School is a specialist provision providing full-time specialised co-education for young people aged 7 to 16 with a range of complex needs, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviour. This may include social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism.
For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties.
