Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Penny Tree School, Birmingham, B30 3ES
Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday–Friday | 8.30am – 4.30pm
Salary: £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: April 2026

About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality education for pupils, helping them to engage with learning and develop greater independence. Working closely with teachers and tutors, you will contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment that meets the individual needs of each student, in line with organisational policies, procedures and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the class teacher or tutor to deliver high-quality teaching and learning for all pupils
- Assist in the implementation of relevant education policies and procedures
- Provide tailored support to pupils on an individual or small-group basis to help them access the curriculum as independently as possible
- Promote pupils’ physical, educational and moral development in line with organisational values
- Help organise and maintain the classroom environment, including resources, displays and student groupings, to create a stimulating and supportive learning space
- Ensure equipment and resources are used safely and efficiently, reporting any maintenance issues as required
- Support the teacher or tutor in contributing to, updating and implementing pupil documentation, such as Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Support Profiles, risk assessments and pastoral plans, as appropriate
- Work effectively with colleagues to support pupils with autistic spectrum disorder and other additional needs

About Us
Our new Options Autism school – Penny Tree – will have capacity for 60 pupils and is expected to open in the near future.
