About the Role

At Belmont School, we believe that every child deserves to feel safe, understood and ready to learn. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Nurture Teacher to lead our Nurture Group — creating a supportive, therapeutic and inspiring environment where pupils can rebuild confidence, develop key life skills and achieve their full potential.

As our Nurture Teacher, you will lead a small group of pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs, delivering a personalised, developmentally informed curriculum rooted in nurture principles. You’ll create a safe, home-like environment where pupils feel secure, valued and ready to engage in learning — helping them overcome barriers and thrive both academically and emotionally.

Working closely with support staff, families and external professionals, you’ll play a key role in shaping positive outcomes for every child.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Plan and deliver engaging, tailored lessons that meet individual needs
  • Lead and develop the Nurture Group provision, embedding nurture principles in daily practice
  • Build strong, trusting relationships that support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and development
  • Monitor, assess and track progress, ensuring EHCP targets are met and exceeded
  • Create a structured, nurturing environment balancing learning, routine and care
  • Support and guide support staff, including timetabling and classroom practice
  • Promote positive behaviour and attitudes to learning using consistent, therapeutic approaches
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers and external agencies to support each child’s journey

About You

You are someone who:

  • Ideally Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths
  • Is passionate about nurture-based, child-centred education
  • Understands that all behaviour is communication
  • Can create a calm, safe and structured environment for learning
  • Builds positive relationships with ease and consistency
  • Is reflective, resilient and committed to making a lasting difference
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals
  • Maintains high standards of safeguarding, professionalism and care
