About the Role

Are you someone who takes pride in creating safe, welcoming and well‑maintained environments? Do you enjoy a role where no two days are the same — where your practical skills, organisation and leadership genuinely make a difference? Wetheringsett Manor School is looking for a proactive, hands‑on Facilities & Site Supervisor to join our dedicated team.

At Wetheringsett Manor School, our environment is central to the learning experience. You’ll play a key part in ensuring our grounds, buildings and vocational areas are safe, compliant and inspiring spaces for pupils, staff and visitors. This is a role for someone who enjoys responsibility, variety and being at the heart of school life.

What You’ll Do

  • Carrying out general maintenance, emergency repairs and upkeep of buildings, grounds and vocational areas.
  • Coordinating key site services including security, fire safety, access control, cleaning, waste management and grounds maintenance.
  • Supervising facilities operatives, cleaners and external contractors to ensure safe, high‑quality work.
  • Completing statutory Health & Safety checks (fire alarms, emergency lighting, legionella, asbestos visuals, equipment checks, ladder inspections, etc.) and supporting PAT testing.
  • Managing opening/closing procedures, contributing to the emergency/fire marshal rota and maintaining accurate HSE and building compliance records using digital systems.
  • Ensuring tools, equipment and learning resources are safe, compliant and well maintained, while advising the Vocational Lead on resource needs and priorities.

Who We’re Looking For

You’ll thrive in this role if you are:

  • Practical, adaptable and confident in general maintenance tasks.
  • Knowledgeable about Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Comfortable supervising others and coordinating contractors.
  • Organised, reliable and able to prioritise a varied workload.
  • A strong communicator who can work well with staff across the school.
  • Someone who takes pride in keeping environments safe, tidy and well‑presented.
  • Driving licence required

Experience in a school or similar setting is beneficial but not essential — what matters most is your commitment to high standards and your willingness to get stuck in.
