About the Role
Looking for a permanent part-time role that offers flexibility around your other commitments?
At Smallbrook School, we’re looking for an experienced and reliable Domestic Cleaner to join our friendly team and help us maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for our pupils and colleagues.
Working 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible working hours available to be discussed at interview, this could be a great opportunity if you’re looking for a role that offers a better balance around your home life or other commitments.
Your work may happen behind the scenes, but its impact is felt throughout the school. By ensuring classrooms, communal areas and other spaces are clean, comfortable and ready to use, you’ll help create an environment where children and young people can feel safe, settled and ready to learn.
If you have previous school cleaning experience, take pride in maintaining high standards and are looking for a role within a supportive school community, we’d love to hear from you.
What you will be doing
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness across classrooms, offices, communal areas and other allocated spaces.
- Carry out daily cleaning including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sanitising and waste disposal.
- Ensure school spaces are clean, hygienic, welcoming and ready for pupils and colleagues to use.
- Follow agreed cleaning schedules and Health & Safety procedures.
- Use cleaning equipment and materials safely and appropriately.
- Help maintain a healthy and safe environment for children and young people.
- Identify and report maintenance issues, hazards or Health & Safety concerns promptly.
- Work collaboratively with the wider school and facilities team to maintain consistently high standards.
What you will bring
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has previous cleaning experience within a school environment – essential.
- Holds a Full UK Driving Licence – essential.
- Takes genuine pride in maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness.
- Is reliable, organised and able to manage their workload efficiently.
- Has a positive, practical and proactive approach.
- Can work independently as well as being part of a supportive team.
- Understands the importance of maintaining a safe and hygienic environment for children and young people.
Working Hours & School Holidays
The role is primarily term-time only, with employees also required to work the equivalent of two weeks during school holiday periods. These dates will be agreed in advance, and there may be the opportunity to work longer shifts during these periods – for example, 9am–5pm – allowing contracted hours to be completed over fewer days.
Your usual 20 hours per week are flexible, with the working pattern to be discussed and agreed at interview.
