Job Title: Assistant Headteacher - Behaviour and Attitudes
Location: Red Kite School, Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, HP27 0JW
Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8am - 4pm
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: November 2026

At Red Kite School, we're looking for an ambitious and passionate Assistant Headteacher to join our Senior Leadership Team and play a key role in shaping the continued development of our specialist school, with a particular focus on Behaviour and Attitudes.
Working closely with the Headteacher, you'll combine strategic leadership with a 70% teaching commitment, giving you the opportunity to lead by example and remain directly involved in the day-to-day education of our students. You'll influence teaching and learning, behaviour, student outcomes, staff development and whole-school improvement, helping to create a culture where high expectations, positive relationships and personal growth enable every student to succeed.
Your Leadership Impact
- Work alongside the Headteacher to provide strategic and operational leadership across the school.
- Lead on the school's Behaviour and Attitudes strategy, promoting a positive, consistent and restorative approach that supports engagement, attendance and achievement.
- Maintain a 70% teaching commitment, modelling high-quality classroom practice, positive behaviour management and ambitious expectations.
- Drive high standards of teaching, learning, behaviour and student achievement across the school.
- Monitor behaviour, attendance and student progress data, identifying trends and implementing effective interventions to improve outcomes.
- Lead school improvement initiatives, using assessment, data and evidence to identify priorities and strengthen provision.
- Coach, mentor and develop colleagues, supporting effective behaviour management, professional growth and high-quality practice.
- Champion safeguarding, wellbeing, inclusion and positive relationships throughout the school community.
- Build strong partnerships with families, professionals and external stakeholders to support positive outcomes and student success.
- Contribute to the school's long-term vision and development, ensuring behaviour and attitudes remain central to school improvement priorities.
What will you will bring
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree.
- Proven leadership experience within a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of behaviour and attitudes, curriculum development, assessment and school improvement.
- Experience implementing behaviour strategies and supporting positive student outcomes.
- Ability to coach, develop and inspire staff while driving high standards.
- Strong communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills.
- Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and helping every student succeed.
- Full UK driving licence (NPQSL or equivalent leadership qualification desirable).

Red Kite School is an independent special school for up to 60 young people aged 11–18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
